Reunited X-Men storm Comic-Con
Stars of the X-Men franchise including Hugh Jackman, Sir Patrick Stewart, Sir Ian Mckellen and Halle Berry came together with new castmembers to thrill fans at Comic-Con this weekend (20-21Jul13).
The actors gathered with stars including James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult, who played the characters' younger selves in 2011 blockbuster X-Men: First Class, at the huge convention in San Diego, California on Saturday (20Jul13) to promote their new superhero movie.
The cast will come together on screen in X-Men: Days of Future
Past, but the Comic-Con outing marked the first time many fans had
seen the younger castmembers come face to face with their older
counterparts.
During a panel discussion, gay star McKellen referenced
California's recent law-change over same-sex marriage and jokingly
propositioned Fassbender, who plays a younger version of the
veteran star's character, Magneto, saying, "I feel safe here now
that you got rid of Proposition 8... I'm looking for a husband -
it's great to meet you Michael."
Jackman, who also stars in his own Wolverine spin-off movie series,
thrilled the crowd by revealing he dressed up as his superhero
character and wandered around the convention unnoticed, although he
revealed two people did stop to comment on his costume: "One said
'Eh, not bad.' The other said, 'Way too tall'."
The event marked Berry's return to the spotlight since marrying
actor Olivier Martinez in France earlier this month (Jul13), while
it also reunited former lovers Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas
Hoult, who began dating after meeting on the set of X-Men: First
Class, but split late last year (12).
Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, Shawn Ashmore, and Peter Dinklage were
also in attendance along with director Bryan Singer.
