The initiative, a partnership between network VH1 and the United Services Organization (USO), will feature Perry, Sugarland, Hilson and Minaj performing concerts at the Marine Corps Air Station Miramar in San Diego, California; while Paramore will visit a military base in the Middle East.

The scheme has extra resonance for Hilson whose father served in the army before she was born. She says, "I get to be among so many other influential women, groundbreaking women, strong, powerful, confident women, not only on that day, but just to be a part of the legacy of VH1 Divas."

All performances will air on US TV on 5 December (10) and internationally through the Armed Forces Network.
