Mandy Moore heads to Cameroon to hand out mosquito nets

Written by . Published: August 15 2011

Mandy Moore is helping the fight against malaria in Africa by handing out mosquito nets to try to combat the disease.

The pop star flew to Cameroon last week (ends14Aug11) with representatives from global health organization Population Services International (PSI), for which she acts as an ambassador, as well as the U.N. Foundation's Nothing But Nets campaign.

Mandy Moore is hand-delivering the nets to residents in the region, where malaria is the number one cause of death among under-fives.

She says, "I'm meeting the people who need these nets to stay safe from malaria - from two year olds to the Prime Minister. I'm proud to be a part of this historic effort that will save thousands of lives here in Cameroon, and grateful for the help of so many American supporters who are donating to make this possible."
