Lindsay Lohan is convinced she has been treated harshly by the legal system and believes she should never have been sent to prison.
The Mean Girls star has endured numerous stints in jail over the last few years as part of her ongoing legal troubles and was recently sentenced to three months behind bars for a probation violation stemming from a 2007 DUI case. She eventually avoided prison and served 35 days under house arrest instead due to prison overcrowding.
Lohan, who was last behind bars in 2010, is adamant she should never have been forced to go to prison because she is not a violent offender. She tells Italy's Vanity Fair magazine, "Unless you're a killer, I don't see a reason to stay there. I never hurt anyone but myself."
She also blames her early fame as a child star for her past bad behaviour, as she was too young and naive to appreciate her success, adding, "I think that being young and in the position that I was in you don't really take the time to appreciate what you have. It was all a whirlwind but I'm not a kid anymore, I'm 24 and I've made a lot of mistakes but I feel like if I can just stay focused I can achieve what I want to achieve."
The interview was conducted at Lohan's home in Venice, California while she was under house arrest and features a photoshoot at the property, with the actress posing in numerous skimpy outfits.
