A spokesman for Lil Wayne's record label has confirmed the rapper has suffered a seizure, but his aides are playing down reports suggesting he is in a medically-induced coma, and near death.

TMZ.com reported the Go DJ hitmaker was in the intensive care unit at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, fighting for life, but Mack Maine, the president of Wayne's Young Money record label, has assured fans his condition is not as bleak as it was first reported.

He stated, "Wayne is alive and well... Don't believe the nonsense about comas and tubes to breathe... that's false!"

And Lil Wayne himself appeared to be on the mend on Friday evening, tweeting to fans, "I'm good everybody. Thnx for the prayers and love."

His publicist, Kia Selby, has also dismissed reports her client is in a coma, stating, "Lil Wayne is doing well."

And his mentor, Bryan 'Baby' Williams has tweeted, "My son is in good spirit (sic)... feelin much betta (better)... be home soon."

The rapper, real name Dwayne Michael Carter, Jr., was initially hospitalised in Los Angeles on Tuesday night (12Mar13) after suffering multiple seizures on the set of Nicki Minaj's new video. He was released on Wednesday (13Mar13) but taken back to the medical centre hours later after a bodyguard found him lying unconscious in his room.
