Kit Harington in talks to star in Guy Fawkes drama
Actor Kit Harington is reportedly in talks to star in a BBC drama based on English radical Guy Fawkes.
The Game of Thrones star is also slated to produce the mini-series under his Thriker Films company.
The three-parter will center on Fawkes and the group of English
Catholics who tried to blow up the House of Lords and kill King
James I in 1605 as part of a plan to put a Catholic on the
throne.
The plan, dubbed the Gunpowder Plot, was unsuccessful after Fawkes
was caught by authorities at Westminster Palace guarding the
explosives. He was subsequently tortured and executed.
It is unclear who Harington will play in the series, but earlier
this year (16) the 29-year-old revealed he is a descendant of
Robert Catesby, who helped plan the Gunpowder Plot, and he was
working on a screenplay about the event. It is not known if the
screenplay will be used for the series.
Brits mark Fawkes' capture every year on 5 November with what is
known as Bonfire Night of Guy Fawkes Night.
