Kerry Washington returns to spotlight after secret wedding

Kerry Washington made her red carpet debut as a married woman in California on Sunday (04Aug13) following her secret wedding last month (Jul13).

The Scandal star flashed her glittering new wedding band as she attended the Television Critics Association's Summer Press Tour Disney/ABC party in Beverly Hills.

Washington stunned fans when she married American football star Nnamdi Asomugha in secret on 24 June (13) without previously announcing their engagement or even confirming she was dating the sportsman.

The actress' Scandal co-star Tony Goldwyn, who plays her married love interest in the show, has also revealed he knew nothing of Washington's plans, but "sensed (a wedding) was on the way".

He adds to Usmagazine.com, "I'm just thrilled for her. She's so happy!... Having been married for a very long time, I'm knowledgeable enough to know that I can offer her no advice!"
