Travis Mccoy's heartbreak after splitting from Katy Perry fuelled him to write songs for his new solo album.

McCoy dated the I Kissed A Girl hitmaker on and off for a couple of years, but they decided to go their separate ways earlier this year (09) after non-stop arguments.

The pop star has since found love and happiness with British funnyman Russell Brand, while McCoy has been consoling himself by writing tracks about their split for an upcoming solo project.

He explains, "Being in a relationship with Katy has inspired tracks. Any relationship you go through inspires something. I've also written songs about my puppy. That's inspired me as much as any relationship situation as he's my baby boy. It is really not in my character to be nasty about anyone and I wish her luck. I do think I have better hair than Russell, though."
