Singer John Legend and his model wife Chrissy Teigen are set to go head-to-head at the eighth annual pre-Super Bowl Celebrity Beach Bowl in New York City on Saturday (01Feb14).
The All of Me hitmaker is slated to hit the sand-filled field on the eve of the big game, but he'll be up against his new bride in the star-studded gridiron game.
Teigen, who has played in previous Beach Bowls, tells E! News that she usually steers clear of the actual athletic portion of the event, but this year, she just might have to do some tackling.
She admits, "I look forward to the DirecTV Celebrity Beach Bowl every year. I actually consider myself a Beach Bowl vet now. It's always such a hilarious, random group of people and I like to think of myself as the team cheerleader/bartender.
"I rarely touch the ball and mostly make sand angels but I try to make sure everyone has a great time. Now that John is playing, I plan on making touch football 'extremely touchy football'."
Other celebrities taking part in the game are Nina Dobrev, James Marsden, Aaron Paul, Tracy Morgan and Peter Facinelli.
The stars will get some help from former NFL pros, including Joe Montana, Warren Moon, Jesse Palmer and Deion Sanders, when the game is aired live in America.
