Janelle Monae to star alongside Leslie Mann and Steve Carell

Singer Janelle Monae has booked her next movie role alongside Leslie Mann and Steve Carell

The untitled Robert Zemeckis project is based on 2010 documentary Marwncol, which centered on a man named Mark Hogancamp, who recovered from brain damage by building a World War II-era town in his backyard.

Zemeckis is directing the film and has also written the script. The movie will be executive produced by Marwncol director Jeff Malmberg and Jackie Levine. Zemeckis will also serve as a producer, according to Variety.com.

It is unclear which roles Mann and Monae will take on, but the singer-turned-actress has been ramping up her Hollywood resume as of late after starring in two critically-acclaimed 2016 films - Best Picture Oscar winner Moonlight, and real-life space movie Hidden Figures.
