R&B star Janelle Monae has ticked off one of her lifelong dreams after filming an appearance on beloved children's TV show Sesame Street.

The Tightrope hitmaker was invited to take a walk down Sesame Street last month (Dec13) to teach the puppet characters all about the importance of perseverance and she performed a song, titled The Power of Yet, to help illustrate the life lesson.

During the shoot, she told Billboard.com, "I am so excited to be living one of my dreams - to be here on Sesame Street. I'm here because I am teaching everybody on Sesame Street the importance and the power of 'yet'. Never, ever, ever give up because there's so much power in 'yet'."

Monae's cameo will air as part of the series' 45th season, which will debut in September (14).

Pop stars One Direction, rapper Macklemore and British singer/songwriter Ed Sheeran also recently filmed sketches for the longrunning educational program.
