Illness keeps Ellie Goulding from joining in London run

British pop star Ellie Goulding was forced to pull out of plans to take part in the Nike Women's 10km London race on Sunday (21Jun15) due to illness.

The Lights hitmaker, an avid runner and Nike spokesperson, had been expected to join the hundreds of participants in Victoria Park for the 10 kilometer (6.2 mile) challenge, and even sent out an encouraging message on Saturday (20Jun15) as she prepared for the race.

Taking to Instagram.com, she wrote, "Have fun all you bada** women running the 10k tomorrow! See you there".

However, Goulding had to change her plans after feeling sick and instead ditched her running shoes to cheer on runners from the sidelines.

She later took to social media and wrote, "Congratulations to all the brilliant ladies who ran the 10k today, couldn't take part because of illness, but was so happy I could make it down to cheer you on and it was lovely to actually see you all running! I hope you rewarded yourselves with either a cheeky nandos (fast food chicken restaurant)... or a cheeky G&T (gin and tonic). Much love".

Goulding teamed up with Nike earlier this year (15) to launch the sports giant's new training app, while she previously worked with brand executives to design her own sneaker in 2013 and also completed the Nike Women Half Marathon in Washington, D.C.
