Hailee Steinfeld's 'irresponsible' fashion ad banned
A fashion advertisement for Miu Miu depicting teen actress Hailee Steinfeld sitting on a train track has been banned in Britain after officials deemed it "irresponsible".
Authorities at the U.K.'s Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) have condemned the image of the 14-year-old star wiping away a tear while perched on a railway because it shows a child in an unsafe location.
Bosses at Prada Retail UK, who own the Miu Miu brand, have defended
the picture, calling it "part of a serious, high-fashion campaign"
and "based on the set of an imaginary film".
They claim it is clear the True Grit star "could have easily moved
from where she was sitting because she was not restrained in any
way".
The ban follows the ASA's decision earlier this month (Nov11) to
pull a provocative campaign featuring 17-year-old Dakota Fanning
posing with a bottle of Marc Jacobs' Oh, Lola! perfume between her
legs.
