Get Out leads MTV Movie & TV Awards nominations

Horror movie Get Out is set for a big night at the first-ever MTV Movie & TV Awards next month (May17) after landing six nominations.


Comedian-turned-director Jordan Peele's hit has received nods for Movie of the Year, Best Villain, Best Fight Against the System, Best Actor in a Movie, Next Generation and Best Duo.

Beauty and the Beast, Logan, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and The Edge of Seventeen will also compete in the Movie of the Year category, while Get Out's Daniel Kaluuya, Beauty and the Beast's Emma Watson, The Edge of Seventeen's Hailee Steinfeld, Logan's Hugh Jackman, Split's James McAvoy, and Hidden Figures' Taraji P. Henson are all up for Best Actor in a Movie.

Get Out's Allison Williams, Stranger Things' Demogorgon, and Suicide Squad's Jared Leto, are among the nominees for Best Villain, while Felicity Jones (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story), Grant Gustin (The Flash), Mike Colter (Luke Cage), Millie Bobby Brown (Stranger Things), Stephen Amell (Arrow), and Henson (Hidden Figures) have all received nods for Best Hero.

Meanwhile, Atlanta, Game of Thrones, Insecure, Pretty Little Liars, Stranger Things, and This Is Us have scored nominations for TV Show of the Year, while Donald Glover (Atlanta), Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones), Gina Rodriguez (Jane the Virgin), Jeffrey Dean Morgan (The Walking Dead), Mandy Moore (This Is Us), and Stranger Things' Millie Bobby Brown will compete for Best Actor in a TV show.

The 2017 MTV Movie & TV Awards, hosted by actor Adam Devine, will take place at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles on 7 May (17).
