Eddie Redmayne is new voice in Thomas the Tank Engine movie

Oscar-winning actor Eddie Redmayne is fulfilling a childhood dream by voicing a character in a new movie revamp of beloved kids' series Thomas The Tank Engine.

The Theory of Everything star has signed up to voice a new engine called Ryan in a film version of the popular children's TV show, titled Sodor’s Legend of the Lost Treasure.

Redmayne admits he loved the original series, which was narrated by Beatles legend Ringo Starr in the 1980s, and he is thrilled to be a part of Thomas' latest adventure.

He says, "I grew up loving to watch Thomas and his pals getting caught up in unexpected and mischievous adventures. I jumped at the opportunity to get involved and what fun it was... I have never voiced an animated character before, and I had a complete blast.”

The film is due for release in the autumn (15).
