Ed Sheeran makes U.S. chart history with 20-week top five stand

Ed Sheeran has made chart history in the U.S. by becoming the first artist to spend 20 weeks in the Billboard Hot 100 top five with a new song.

His former 12-week number one Shape of You debuted at the top of the Hot 100 on 28 January (17), and now, 20 weeks later, the song drops one place to five on the new countdown, passing Justin Bieber's record - he spent his first 19 weeks in the top five with Sorry in 2015 and 2016.

Bieber remains at number one on the new chart, thanks to his involvement in Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee's hit Despacito, which spends a third week in first place.

Bruno Mars' That's What I Like ranks at two on the new Hot 100 for a fourth week, while DJ Khaled's I'm the One, featuring Bieber, Quavo, Chance the Rapper, and Lil Wayne, lands a third week at number three, just ahead of Kendrick Lamar's Humble at four.
