Disney bosses consider The Muppets for Broadway
The Muppets are heading for Broadway, according to new industry reports.
Disney bosses are exploring the idea of launching a stage version of The Muppet Show following a top secret showcase, which was held at the New Amsterdam Theater in New York on 31 May (13).
Reports suggest over 85 Muppets were used in the experimental
project, which was held to determine if the show would be
possible.
The Muppet Show ran on TV from 1976 to 1981, and the beloved
puppets also tasted film success in The Muppet Movie, The Great
Muppet Caper, The Muppets Take Manhattan, The Muppet Christmas
Carol, Muppet Treasure Island and Muppets From Space.
Disney bosses brought the puppet troupe back in vogue in 2011 with
the movie The Muppets. A sequel is currently in the works.
