David Beckham marks brave fan's birthday

David Beckham showed his support for a young fan who has been battling an eating disorder by meeting up with him in Los Angeles on his 16th birthday.

Will Kitching was just 14 years old when a coach told him he needed to lose weight, leading the young athlete to drop down to 84 pounds (38 kilograms).

David Beckham was moved by Will Kitching's story and to celebrate his recovery, he invited him out to California to meet him and his Los Angeles Galaxy teammates.

Will Kitching's dad Gary says, "He was training when we arrived but came straight across. David was brilliant and chatted for ages."

Will adds, "Becks signed my golden boots. It's a birthday I will never forget."
