Chris Evans is keen to show off his musical skills in a Broadway show or film.

The Captain America star is nearing the end of his contract as the Marvel superhero and while it is unclear if the actor will sign up for more action, he admits he is considering a very different role.

And the 35-year-old has his ambitions set high.

"I think I might do a (Broadway) show next March (17)," he told breakfast show Good Morning America on Friday (07Apr17). "As of late, musicals are doing so well. There's always been rumblings of a Guys and Dolls remake, maybe a West Side Story remake. Those movies I love, I grew up on those types of musicals."

Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Channing Tatum were reportedly in talks to lead the cast of 20th Century Fox's Guys and Dolls remake in 2013, but it is unclear what the status of the project is.

Meanwhile, Steven Spielberg is developing a remake of West Side Story. The filmmaker has been working on the project for several years and has tapped his Lincoln and Munich screenwriter Tony Kushner to pen the script.
