Chris Colfer experienced an alien encounter when he was a child.

The actor and writer found fame after playing Kurt Hummel on the TV series Glee, and for penning the popular The Land of Stories novel series.

During an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Monday (26Jun17), Chris spoke about his fascination with alleged alien and unidentified flying objects (UFOs) sightings, and shared his own strong memory of meeting an "alien".

"When I was a kid, I was very sick with bronchitis and I was on sizzurp (prescription-strength cough syrup mixed with soda) levels of cough syrup. So it might have been a hallucination," he said. "But I woke up in the middle of the night, and there was a little alien standing at the foot of my bed. He was about four feet tall. I'm surprised I didn't scream, but he was just so adorable, he was just so cute, sitting there like, 'Feel better.'"

The 27-year-old also explained that he became interested in researching alien life in the time after his mother Karyn Colfer died. During the grieving process, he'd stay up all night watching a TV show called Ancient Aliens.

"I got like really, really into it. They just kind of talk about things in history that might have been influenced by extraterrestrials. And I bought every word of it," he smiled.

In spite of his alien interest, Chris joked that he wasn't single. But he did explain that the quest to see UFOs and aliens was the inspiration behind a recent trip to South America.

"Peru is one of the extraterrestrial hotspots. So I was like I have to go, and see if I see something. And I didn't," the star sighed.
