Cee Lo Green cut from second gig
R&B star Cee Lo Green has suffered another career setback after he was dropped from a second concert in as many days.
The Forget You hitmaker learned on Friday (05Sep14) that he had been cut from the line-up of the Navy-sponsored JBAB Freedom Live show in Washington, D.C. on 20 September (14), days after sparking controversy by posting a series of ill-advised Twitter.com comments, implying women who are unconscious during a sexual assault cannot call it rape.
His tweets came just days after Green pleaded no contest to a
felony charge of sharing ecstasy with an ex-girlfriend, who had
accused him of slipping her the drug during a dinner date in 2012
and then having sex with her. A charge of sexual assault against
the singer/rapper had previously been dropped due to a lack of
evidence.
He subsequently apologized for his remarks, insisting they were
"idiotic, untrue and not what I believe", but it was not enough for
organizers at the JBAB Freedom Live gig.
Bosses at Louisiana's Gretna Heritage Festival followed suit on
Saturday (06Sep14), scrapping Green's headlining set for this
weekend as he no longer fits the event's "wholesome family
environment". No further explanation was given for the axe.
He was replaced by Joan Jett and the Blackhearts for Sunday night's
(07Sep14) gig.
