Cate Blanchett visits Philip Seymour Hoffman's girlfriend and kids
Actress Cate Blanchett paid a visit to Philip Seymour Hoffman's family home on Monday (03Feb14) to comfort his estranged girlfriend Mimi O'donnell and their three children following his tragic death on Sunday (02Feb14).
The Blue Jasmine star was dressed in black and appeared a little teary eyed as she was photographed entering the Manhattan pad the actor used to share with his partner of 15 years.
Blanchett, who had befriended Hoffman and his family after
co-starring with him in 1999 thriller The Talented Mr. Ripley, was
laden with gifts, including a new telescope, which was intended for
Hoffman's eldest child, his 10-year-old son Cooper, according to
the New York Daily News.
Hoffman had reportedly moved out of the apartment and into his own
rented home after suffering a drug relapse last year (13), which
prompted him to seek help in rehab after 23 years of sobriety.
The 46 year old was found dead from a suspected overdose at the
Greenwich Village rental on Sunday (02Feb14).
