Actress Carey Mulligan has joined War Child U.K as the humanitarian organisation's latest Global Ambassador.
The Great Gatsby star was inspired to support the charity after her brother came into contact with their work when he was posted in Afghanistan with the British Army.
Mulligan will help with fundraising and promoting the charity's efforts in war zones around the world.
In a recorded message on War Child's website, she says, "When I found out that there was a charity that focused on helping children to recover from the brutality of war, I knew immediately that I wanted to be involved. It's unbearable that the places that are being targeted are the very places that children should be safe. No child should be left to face war alone. You can do something today by donating to War Child to give these children the chance of a happier future."
The actress is presenting an appeal for the charity on British radio on Sunday (28Sep14).
