Beyonce reunites Destiny's Child in show-stopping Super Bowl half-time set
Beyonce brought her superstar status to New Orleans, Louisiana on Sunday (03Feb13) as she took over the Super Bowl for a spectacular half-time show featuring a special Destiny'S Child reunion.
The pop icon opened the big show at the Superdome with Love On Top and was joined by a large troupe of dancers for renditions of her smash hits Crazy In Love, End of Time and Baby Boy, which included a visually stunning dance routine.
Her former Destiny's Child pals Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams
then jumped out from beneath the stage to play their first live set
in five years.
The girls, all dressed in skin-tight black leather, turned up the
heat with sexy performances of Bootylicious and Charlie's Angels
theme tune Independent Women, complete with pyrotechnics.
Rowland and Williams stayed on stage to join Beyonce for her hit
Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It) and then departed as she wrapped
the 12-minute gig solo with Halo.
Famous fans of the headliner took to Twitter.com after the
performance to rave about the set - Demi Lovato declared, "Good
GOD Beyonce is one of the greatest performers to have ever walked
this planet... She's KILLING IT!!!!!", while Olivia Munn mused,
"Wow. Beyonce brought Destiny's Child to Super Bowl 2013! What a
woman/friend to share this moment w/ (with the) people who helped
start it all."
Sophia Bush told her fans, "Never has their been a woman so
simultaneously sexy-as-f**k and so-damn-classy", and rapper Eve
commented, "Who gave B s**t for lip syncing??? She just MURDERED
half time!! Love the Destiny's Child moment".
Beyonce's sister Solange Knowles simply stated, "No. One.
Better."
The superstar made a point to sing the whole show-stopping set live
after the controversy at President Barack Obama's inauguration
ceremony last month (Jan13), when she was caught bolstering her
vocals for the National Anthem with a pre-recorded version of The
Star-Spangled Banner.
The Super Bowl kicked off with Beyonce's Dreamgirls co-star
Jennifer Hudson who paid tribute to victims of the December (12)
shooting at Newtown, Connecticut's Sandy Hook Elementary School by
performing America the Beautiful with the school's choir, while
Alicia Keys belted out the National Anthem while playing a grand
piano.
The Baltimore Ravens led the San Francisco 49ers 21-6 at half-time.
Play was interrupted for 34 minutes at the start of the third
quarter due to a power cut to the stadium, but the Ravens just
managed to hold on to a narrow lead as the 49ers made a second half
charge to end the game 34-31 and take home the Vince Lombardi
Trophy.
