Model Bella Hadid helped her ailing grandmother celebrate her birthday over the weekend (24-25Jun17) by paying her a surprise visit in Holland.

The runway beauty took to Instagram on Monday (26Jun17) to share the health struggles of her maternal grandma with fans online, admitting she was saddened to head back to work after making the unexpected trip to Europe, where her mum, Yolanda Hadid, has been spending quality time with her family.

"Nothing will ever beat this love," Bella captioned video footage of her surprising grandmother Ans van den Herik. "I took off of work for the past 3 days to surprise my beautiful Oma (grandmother) in Holland on her birthday. She is going through the hardest struggle of her life battling cancer again but I know for a fact she is the strongest woman i have ever met (sic)."

"Today is my last day with my family here in Holland and the last thing I want to do is leave...," she continued. "But I will, so I can work my hardest and come back soon. I love you."

Drawing her emotional note to a close, Bella added, "Times like these are so important to me and I wouldn't give them up for the world. Happy birthday Oma...Thank you for birthing and raising my perfect mother into the woman she is today."

Family has been on the 20-year-old's mind a lot in recent days - The Weeknd's ex-girlfriend sent her younger brother Anwar a sweet message last week (ends23Jun17) as he celebrated his 18th birthday.

Alongside a pair of photos of the siblings as kids, she wrote, "Happy birthday my sweet angel. Your love and light is worth all of the stars in the sky! I'm so proud of the man you have become and are becoming. I'm so proud and lucky to call you my brother."

"Nobody loves you more than me my mini me," she shared. "forever and ever and ever x infinity .. 18 years you're still my best friend and favorite man !"
