AUSSIE MAYOR CONGRATULATES MIRANDA KERR AND ORLANDO BLOOM

Miranda Kerr and her husband Orlando Bloom have been congratulated by the mayor of her Australian hometown following the arrival of the couple's first child.

The supermodel gave birth to a baby boy in Los Angeles in the early hours of Friday (07Jan11), according to reports.

And although the famous couple has yet to confirm the happy news, Mayor Adam Marshall, of Gunnedah, New South Wales, has already sent his congratulations to the town's most famous former resident.

He says, "Everyone is really excited. She still has strong family links here and we are very proud of her. We would like to see Miranda, Orlando and the new bub (baby) in Gunnedah."

Marshall also confirmed he is planning to send Kerr a gift on behalf of the local townsfolk to celebrate the birth.
