Adam 'Dj Am' Goldstein's pal Ashley Hamilton is still in shock about the club icon's death last Friday (28Aug09) - because the socialite can't believe reports his friend suffered a drug abuse relapse.
Reports suggest Goldstein may have committed suicide after medics on the scene found a cocktail of undigested pills in the DJ's stomach and one in his mouth - but the tragedy was clearly drug-related.And Hamilton, who helped former drug addict DJ AM get sober and then turned to his friend when he needed help to combat drug abuse, cannot believe Goldstein may have relapsed. He tells Eonline.com, There are a lot of people with drug and alcohol (issues) that if you heard they died, you'd be like, 'Yeah, I saw that coming,' but people like Adam, you just didn't see it coming. That's what's so shocking about it.Hamilton, the son of actor George Hamilton, was rehearsing for his upcoming stint on TV show Dancing With The Stars, when he heard the terrible news his friend had been found dead in his New York apartment. He adds, I spoke to him Tuesday night, and we were just talking about cars and work and how hard he was working and stuff... He was such a good guy. He cared for people and about people. He helped people.Goldstein was in the middle of filming an MTV series about drug abuse when he died. In Gone Too Far, the celebrated DJ visited struggling youngsters with substance abuse problems and helped them seek help and get clean. The DJ was laid to rest at Hillside Memorial Park and Mortuary in West Hollywood on Wednesday (02Sep09). A second memorial service for the star will be held on Thursday evening (03Sep09) at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles.
