Adele fainted in tight corset dress specially made for Grammys
Soul sensation Adele suffered a fashion nightmare days before the 2012 Grammy Awards after fainting in her custom-made gown.
The Rolling in the Deep hitmaker was the toast of the prestigious prizegiving in February (12), sweeping the awards by taking home all six honors she was nominated for, including Record, Song and Album of the Year for her smash hit, 21.
But Adele admits she had other things to worry about in the lead up
to the Los Angeles ceremony after struggling to fit into her tight
dress.
In a pre-taped interview for NBC, which will air next month
(Jun12), she says, "I actually had another dress made for the
Grammys, but I ended up, well, I passed out in it. It had a corset,
so I was like, 'Oh, I can't wear that' so I ended up wearing this
(black dress) at short notice."
However, the singer wanted to ensure she looked her best in the
sleek, black embellished outfit she settled on - so she slipped
into multiple pairs of figure-shaping underwear Spanx before
hitting the red carpet.
She reveals, "I had three or four pairs of Spanx on that night! I
loved it, I loved it!"
But she didn't stay in the underwear all night: "I took a couple of
pairs off when I sang!"
The Grammy Awards marked Adele's first big public performance since
undergoing an operation on her vocal cords last year (11).
