Aaron Carter planning Thanksgiving family reunion
Former teen pop star Aaron Carter is attempting to rebuild his career and his family after settling a huge tax debt and battling a prescription pill addiction, which took his sister Leslie's life.
The I Want Candy singer and his siblings have struggled with family strife for years after mistakes his parents made as music managers cost him and his big brother Nick dear and led to a massive fall-out.
Aaron reveals he has resolved his issues with his family members
and now he is trying to get them all back together around the
Thanksgiving table in Florida this November (14).
He tells WENN, "It's all super-sad... We've all grown up but
there's always gonna be, like, that family dynamic... There's
always gonna be disagreements, but we are all becoming successful
in our own right and I'm hopeful for the future.
"My mom and my dad are fixing their relationships and rebuilding
their lives and I'm going to contribute to my family and if there's
anyway that I can properly help them, I will.
"I'm hoping we can all come together for Thanksgiving. I'm trying
to work on that now. I'm gonna be there with my crew and my mom
lives in Tampa, so we're gonna have a family dinner and we'll ride
some dirt bikes. I'm gonna try to get the rest of my family to
come. I always try to do that. It's still really hard after
everything my family's been through; there's a lot of hurt and
pain. It's fresh."
However, his reunion plans could be one member missing as none of
the family attended his brother Nick's wedding earlier this year
(14).
The Backstreet Boys star told In Touch magazine, "My family's
always had a complicated dynamic. At the end of the day, the people
who love us were there."
Aaron was due to serve as a groomsman, but missed the wedding
because of flight delays.
Nick famously fell out with members of his immediate family after
they partly blamed him for the death of his sister Leslie, who died
following a drug overdose in 2012.
He chose not to attend the funeral, revealing last year (13), "I
have a large family and they all went there - they were blaming me
for the death. The message from them was that if you had been there
for her, she would be alive today..."
However, his younger brother insists his no-show at the wedding had
nothing to do with Nick's bride, adding, "I love Lauren; I think
Lauren is a strong-willed woman and I can see why my brother fell
in love with Lauren. I'm happy that my brother has finally settled
down, because he said he'd never get married."
