'Vacation' Carries on Tradition of Awful Family Road Trips for a New Generation!

Written by Amanda Baltazar. Published: July 31 2015

After more than three decades since the original Nation Lampoon’s Vacation movie, the sequel of the film has finally been released!

Does that video above bring back memories of the Griswolds and their disasterous cross-country trip to the most fun place on earth?

The new follows Clark "Sparky" Griswold's son Rusty (Ed Helms) all grown up taking after his well-meaning but bumbling father by taking his own family on a road trip to Walley World. Chevy Chase and Beverly D’Angelo reprise their roles as Clark and Ellen, while Christina Applegate plays Rusty's wife and Leslie Mann appears as Rusty’s sister, Audrey. Chris Hemsworth, Charlie Day, and Keegan-Michael Key also join the cast.

As you saw in the trailer, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree, as Rusty gets into some crazy shenanigans just like his father. (Boy, am I glad that I’m not on that family vacation.) And if the previous Vacation films are any indication, the trailer is just the tip of the iceberg of all the insane trouble that the whole Griswolds will be getting into. From Rusty’s run-in with the ladies of a Paris can-can show in National Lampoon’s European Vacation to basically any idea that Cousin Eddie had in National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, the Griswolds are in for quite a trip!

Awkwardness seems to be a genetic trait too -- James Griswold, Rusty’s son, looks like he will have a few mishaps with the ladies, just like his dad and granddad! But at least the family finally got that arctic blue sports wagon... well, maybe.

I’m hoping that the new film will bring more laughs, jokes, and... well, they have Chris Hemsworth shirtless, so they really can’t go wrong in my book. Team Thor all the way! I’m excited to see how they tie in the previous films and modernize the story, but one thing we all know for sure that will always stand the test of time is that family vacations almost never go according to plan!

We are very excited for the release of this remake especially with Ed Helms fronting the hilarity! We love you, Nard Dog! #theoffice #neverforget

Don’t forget to catch Vacation in theaters TODAY!
