Presenters Get Their Swag on at Emmys Gift Lounge
Written by Sarah Osman
This past weekend, the Presenters Gift Lounge backstage at the Nokia Theatre, in celebration of The 64th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards, was a great venue for all of our favorite celebrities to stop by during rehearsals and the night of the show. A few of the attendees during Saturday's activities included eventual winners Aaron Paul, Eric Stonestreet, and Jon Stewart, and also Melissa McCarthy, Lucy Liu, Hayden Panettiere, Mario Lopez, Kat Dennings and Nick Zano, Jimmy Fallon, Martha Plimpton, Matt Weiner, Mindy Kaling, Connie Britton, Aziz Ansari, Giancarlo Esposito, Brooke Burke Charvet, Glenn Close, Ed O’Neill, Elisabeth Moss, Jane Levy, Jeremy Davies, Matthew Perry, and many more!
The lounge itself was a round room adorned in black and silver coverings, along with comfortable white leather couches for extended periods of lounging, and glass coffee tables. I was particularly grateful for the couches, as I had made the crazy decision to wear four-inch heels. (A word of advice: do not wear four-inch heels to any event. Ever.) I was greeted by a number of sponsors in the gift lounge, including: Emergen-C®, where host Micah Jesse, decked out in a fabulous suit with bright pink shoes, asked celebrities if they could have a super power, what would it be; Bertolli Sauces and Frozen Meals®, who, for every star that visited them, would make a significant donation to charity; Zerona (Body-Sculpting Treatments); New Balance (Minimus 1010’s); Tivo, which was premiering its new system, Tivo Premiere 4 DVR; New Era Cap Co.; Black & Decker (Platinum Hand Vacs); CND Shellac manicures; Ultimate Ears by Logitech Custom Molded Earphones; Aquaswiss Men’s and Women’s watches; Marchon custom fittings for designer eyewear; Jill Reno Collection; Crunch; and Kipling, among a few others. I received a gorgeous manicure from Michele Huynh, an educational ambassador for CND. As Michele transformed my nails into a fiery red topped with gold foils, she informed me that CND nail polish is a "power polish", in that it will stay on 14+ days, (woo-who!) and that CND is a favorite among celebrities including Katy Perry and Rihanna. She also informed me that she has just finished designing nails for Fashion Week, and that a few of the key colors for the fall will be bright metallics, forest green, and underwater themes. Jill Reno had stunning jewelry that I found myself ogling for a good half hour, and I later found myself ogling over the watches at Aquaswiss.
As I spent time in the gift lounge, a few celebrities popped by. James Van Der Beek dropped in, looking gorgeous as ever, picked up a few pieces from Jill Reno for his wife and daughter (awww), and was very interested in the Black & Decker Platinum Hand vacs. (I was too, considering they looked like something out of a sci-fi movie and had a nifty nozzle that could be used to vacuum hair.) Ginnifer Goodwin stopped by, who is as gorgeous as and as lovely as a Disney princess. She had on a chic patterned suit and informed us that she never just throws on whatever. Ms. Goodwin also thanked me when I told her that I was a fan of her show, and our readers are as well -- For all of you “Once Upon a Time” fans out there, Ms. Goodwin thanks you!
I had a brief conversation with Matthew Perry and also with Damon Wayans Jr., with whom I shared a sweet hug and conversation about his hit show, “Happy Endings”. For all of you “Endings” fans out there, you can look forward to Damon's character Brad losing his job and becoming very close with Max (Adam Pally), while Alex (Elisha Cuthbert) and Dave (Zachary Knighton) may give dating a shot (you’ll have to watch to find out!)... Mr. Wayans Jr. also attempted to vacuum his own head and treated himself to a relaxing hand massage at the manicure station (it turns out that booth Mr. Wayans Jr. likes to be pampered too). Jeremy Davies and I complimented each other’s hair, and I heard him tell Mr. Jesse at the Emergen-C® booth that his super power would be to create world peace. At the end of the day, Ron Howard popped by, wearing one of his signature hats, and informed us all that he likes orange Emergen-C® because it reminds him of Tang.
Take a look at the pictures below, and let us know which one is your favorite!
