DO Call It a Comeback: Britney Spears Taking Over Vegas

Written by Katie Marzullo. Published: January 28 2014

Oops, she did it again… and again… and again…

The “it” that I speak of is Britney Spears’s ability to battle back from rock bottom and prove all the naysayers wrong. Every time we think she’s done, she climbs right back to the top of the heap. She’s basically a blonde weeble.

At only the age of 32, she’s already a legend, and she hit that point home for good when she agreed to a residency in glorious Las Vegas, usually reserved for seasoned vets like Liberace, Elton John, and Celine Dion. Britney was never one to take her time with things, y’all…

Her Britney: Piece of Me show at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino’s Axis Theatre kicked off late last month, an extravaganza of pyrotechnics and eye-popping set pieces, a true feast for the eyes (and ears). Over the course of the 90-minute show, Britney tells her story through, song, dance, costumes, and special effects, rolling out her biggest hits in a medley that’s both nostalgic and fresh. It’s the comeback to end all comebacks.

The show is slated to run for two years, and if Brit-Brit keeps the audiences packing in the same way she has been for the last month, then Vegas may soon be crowning a new Queen of Sin City. StubHub is already reporting some very impressive numbers, and she’s on track to match, if not exceed, the ticket sales of fellow Vegas acts John, Dion, Rod Stewart, and Shania Twain.

Britney Spears has always seemed larger than life, thus this show seems the perfect venue for her. It’s truly inspiring to see how she has overcome the real-life circus that surrounded her only a few short years ago. Performing live nonstop for the next 2 years will be a true test of her mettle, and we here at Young Hollywood are most definitely rooting for her!
