Singer Paloma Faith has replaced Taylor Swift at the top of the U.K. albums chart with her new release, The Architect.

The British star's latest collection, which features the actor Samuel L. Jackson on its opening track, debuts at number one in Friday's (24Nov17) rundown.

After hearing the news of her chart triumph, Paloma expressed her delight at the response to her politically-themed album.

"I think what's been very moving about this process is the amount of people on social media who have been saying 'Paloma for Number 1'," she tells OfficialCharts.com. "It feels really heartwarming. My intention for this album is to promote kindness, compassion, empathy and understanding. It's quite moving that it's all paid off."

Staying at two is Sam Smith's The Thrill of It All, ahead of classical duo Michael Ball and Alfie Boe's Together Again at three.

In at four is Britain's Got Talent winner Tokio Myers with Our Generation, while at five is Low In High School, the latest album from melancholic rock veteran Morrissey.

Last week's (end19Nov17) biggest seller, Taylor Swift's Reputation, falls out of the top five altogether.

Meanwhile, Camila Cabello's Havana scores a fourth week at the top of the singles chart, ahead of Rita Ora's Anywhere. Marshmello and Khalid's Silence is at three, while Ed Sheeran's Perfect climbs to four. Rounding out the top five is Sam Smith's Too Good at Goodbyes.
