Olivia Munn writes newspaper essay to help save circus elephant

Olivia Munn has written a lengthy essay for a publication pleading with fans to help save an ailing circus elephant.

The animal-loving Iron Man 2 star has previously stripped for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) in a bid to prompt fans to boycott a controversial circus.

Now she is taking her campaign further by writing about the show in an article for The Huffington Post.

The actress details the plight of one elephant, Sarah, who she wants to be freed and retired from the circus "before it's too late".

She writes, "Sarah is a 54-year-old wild-captured elephant with a chronic infection and symptoms of arthritis and she's being forced to travel and perform... In August, Sarah collapsed to the ground... She is sick, tired and in pain...

"Sarah's 'tough life' is spent mostly jammed into a railroad boxcar with up to four other elephants... No wonder this ageing elephant is lame and stiff...

"I am adding my voice to PETA's in calling on the USDA (U.S. Department of Agriculture) to use its authority to seize and retire Sarah before it's too late. Let's put our voices together and tell a new story."
