R&B singer Khalid has been tipped for success next year (18) by landing a nomination on the BBC's Sound of 2018 list.

The Young Dumb & Broke singer, who is currently in the U.K. top 5 singles chart with Silence, his collaboration with DJ Marshmello, has made the nominations for BBC's annual list of emerging talent.

Khalid, 19, was selected for the list by a panel of 173 music experts, including critics, broadcasters and DJs, as well as former Sound Of nominees Stormzy, Ellie Goulding, and Years & Years frontman Olly Alexander. Adele, Frank Ocean and Dua Lipa have been mentioned on previous lists.

Other nominees include Norwegian singer Sigrid, best known for the song Don't Kill My Vibe, Chasing Highs singer Alma, Scottish singer Lewis Capaldi and the youngest ever nominee, 15-year-old singer Billie Eilish.

The sixteen acts will be reduced down to a top five in January (18), and the winner will be revealed on BBC Radio 1 on 12 January.
