RedOne is RedHot

You know at the beginning of Lady Gaga’s “Just Dance” where everyone thinks she says “red wine?” While Miss Gaga may or may not love the drink of the gods, she is actually giving a shout-out to the song’s producer, RedOne.
I actually got the chance to grab a meal with super producer RedOne in New York recently, and while he may be generating the world’s hottest music and being rewarded with award nominations, you would never know it from his humble and friendly demeanor at the dinner table.
I'm glad to see RedOne has blown up in the notoriously difficult American music scene, but his success did not occur overnight. At age 19, RedOne left his hometown in Morocco for Sweden to pursue his music career. While he was producing hit singles and there was a buzz about his work he decided to “go big or go home” and make the move to New York. I gotta give it to him, making that move took a lot of courage and determination. It’s rough out there, but for someone with his talent and passion, it was just a matter of time before he found mainstream success.
RedOne’s production company, RedOneKonvict, is a joint venture with Akon and has helped produce songs for everyone from Sean Kingston and Christina Milian to Lionel Richie and the New Kids on the Block. He also produced the Mika song from the Kick-Ass soundtrack. (P.S.: Go see Kick-Ass, it’s a damn good time. P.P.S.: Check out our interview with the stars of Kick-Ass on YH Studio!)
Back to the subject at hand. Music producers and songwriters rarely get the credit and fame that their superstar clients receive from a hit song, so this blog is just my way of giving props to a great artist and an all around great guy.
