What better place to capture the energy of Super Bowl weekend than Miami, right? That's a trip I just couldn't pass up. I decided to trade coasts for the weekend, bring the YH team and cover the excitement. Country music sweetheart and vitaminwater super fan Carrie Underwood welcomed us into her preparation process for singing the National Anthem before the game. We got to hang with her in her hotel room while she did her makeup and picked out her wardrobe. Then we rode along with her to the stadium for rehearsal and headed out with her to an event at night where she was able to get her mind off the big day. Young Hollywood made quite the entourage for Carrie, and I think the clip turned out real well. Check it out here...
Outside of that, Miami was riddled with parties. I bounced from place to place, trying to take full advantage of it. There was the Maxim Party (highly recommend), Rihanna's memorable performance on the beach, Liv at the Fontainebleau, Tao, Wall Lounge at the W, the list goes on and on. The best party I got to was the Audi party, which turned out to be a real who's who of attendees - everybody from Twilighters to Oscar winners, from athletes to top recording artists. And I loved the concept behind another party I went to which was themed sushi, sake and sunglasses. That's what you got when you walked in the door of the rooftop lounge. Simple and fun. The food was on par with how I remembered it - of course I had to do the iconic News Cafe on South Beach. However, I chose to do that the day after the game, once it had cleared out, because South Beach earlier in the week had become a madhouse of fans, lined shoulder-to-shoulder in the streets like it was Mardi Gras.
Speaking of great places to eat, I also had to check out 2 of my LA faves - STK and Philippe - both of which were connected to my hotel, the Gansevoort. Great steakhouse and great asian cuisine, they couldn't have done it better. Coco de Ville also opened right alongside it which is another west coast transfer I looked forward to checking out. At the hotel was a great rooftop lounge, pool and bar overlooking the ocean and I had to keep reminding myself I was there for work. What better venue for an informal business meeting. That will help lighten the mood.
So it was another trip and another success. We got some great Super Bowl content, got to see a great game and met some awesome people. And to top it off, it wasn't freezing like it was at Sundance. I love Miami.
