Die Antwoord is "The Answer" to the South African Rap Scene
- Written by RJ Williams

In the spirit of this year’s World Cup going on right now in South Africa, the timing is right to introduce you all to Die Antwoord, a satirical rap group from Cape Town, South Africa. Their "Enter the Ninja" video blew me away.
They made their U.S. debut at Coachella this year, and since then, "Enter the Ninja" has become a viral sensation. The lyrics are in both Afrikaans (the native language in South Africa) and English; “Die Antwoord” means “The Answer” in Afrikaans. The music also contains "zef" elements, which is South African slang for a particular style that mixes modern music with old and out-of-date elements of the South African culture.
The lead singer, Ninja, has been the front man for several other rap groups, and he adopts a new persona for each one; for Die Antwoord, Ninja is an over-the-top, violent character. But keep in mind that the group and their music are satirical - their extreme songs are actually a message against violence.
"Enter the Ninja" is NSFW, so no matter how eager you are to see this awesome video, you might want to wait until you get home to click on the link below. I can't wait to see what these guys come up with next!
