Around the World with Avicii

The great thing about the House Music Revolution that seems to be taking place right now is how international it has become. So many different cultures and sensibilities are throwing their hats into the ring, expanding the genre and making into true music for the people! Some of the best DJs and electronica artists in the world are from all over – Paul Oakenfold (England), David Guetta (France), Tiesto (the Netherlands), deadmau5 (Canada), Steve Angello (Greece), the list goes on.

You can add Sweden’s Avicii to that list as well.

The 22-year-old DJ/producer, born Tim Bergling in Stockholm, was DJ Magazine’s #6 DJ in their Top 100 DJs list in 2011. That is pretty impressive for someone who, at that time, had only been in the game for a few years. His big break came at 18 when he remixed the theme song to the Commodore 64 video game, Lazy Jones. A few amazing collabos and Grammy nominations later, he is one of the most prolific remix artists in the biz. Lenny Kravitz, Madonna, Leona Lewis, and Coldplay are just a few of the musicians that have received the Avicii treatment.

His biggest hit to date, and the one he’s most associated with, is probably 2010’s “Seek Bromance”, which is a vocalized version of an earlier instrumental simply titled “Bromance” – he incorporated vocals from English singer Amanda Wilson’s “Love U Seek” into his original track, and voila! Check out both versions below:

Earlier this year, Avicii celebrated reaching 2 million fans on Facebook by recording and releasing a special track entitled, appropriately, “2 Million". A unique way to say thanks to his fan base and acknowledge the power of technology!

Avicii is constantly on the road (he was just at Lollapalooza earlier this month), so be sure to keep up with his live gigs by checking out his Website.

With all he’s already accomplished at such a young age, just imagine what else he has in store for us in the years to come!
