Jason Schwartzman Fails at Rock Band

...But is amazing at everything else he does! I got a chance to interview Jason and I have been a huge fan of his since his break out role as Max in Wes Anderson's Rushmore..He was recently promoting his latest movie Fantastic Mr. Fox where he plays the voice of Ash the little fox to parents George Clooney and Meryl Streep and tells us some great stories of the process of working with Wes again and Bill Murrary, George Clooney and Owen Wilson. The awesome thing about Jason is this never started as a formal interview -- we started the conversation organically as he called it and we talked about everything from Pizza Luce in Minneapolis where I am from to The Basilica Block Party where his band played that I used to attend every year to him running outside in his wifes high heels in his underwear.

I am currently working on putting the segment together but thought I would share this little excerpt from our flip cam footage that talks about how he is horrible at Rock Band and literally made the game end to Weezer's"Say It Isn't So" even though he had done it as a cover song before. Sorry, the sound is a little quiet but listen closely as he is quite humorous. Interview should be up soon where we talk about him working on the movie with George and the close relationship he now has with Ted Danson and Zack Galifinackis from my new fave HBO show "Bored to Death". Check out the show if you haven't. It just got picked up for a second season. He is ALSO a amazing musician and has his own band Coconut Records and sings the theme song to "Bored to Death". Sadly the interview had to end as Jason had to go pick up his dog and we waved as he drove off in his Prius from the SLS hotel. Jason if you are for some odd reason reading this in your underwear somewhere we love you!

She was the first person to reach the 1 million mark for followers on Twitter and is staying strong at #2 with 3.6 million followers. And she had the brilliant idea of launching her own line of virtual gifts on Facebook. So of course the next step would be to have an app.

Teens & Texting!

Version 2.0 of textPlus is available NOW!

Today I wanted to chat about the launch of the updated textPlus iPhone app, which already has millions of users – and a huge teen fan base.

Here’s why teens will care: users can now personalize texting by creating their own “text address” – friends can start a text conversation with them by texting their username to 60611.  User names might be their Twitter name, school nickname, etc.You can also text in group conversations!

And don't worry if you friends don't have a iPhone or iTouch - all they have to do is type your username with 60611 - this eliminates the whole number game. I mean the days of having to remember a number is over. Not to mention that its free to text internationally.

textPlus is free to down load and the texting is free? They do this by using in-app advertising to cover its costs. There is no limit on how many text messages you can send per month, it’s just a matter of getting WiFi, 3G or an Edge connection. GOGII was one of the first companies that was funded by iFund, the partnership between venture capital firm KPCB and Apple, which was announced at the Apple SDK roadmap event.

I can see why teens all over are digging on this. I just downloaded the app to explore my texting options....see what you think > Click here to download now!

Beastly got their Halloween on

What do Neil Patrick Harris, Mary-Kate Olsen and Vanessa Hudgens have in common? Being "Beastly" together! This acclectic group of actors will team up in the new movie "Beastly", an edgy teen romance about learning how to see past false surfaces to discover true inner beauty. Even though it's not not due out til 2010 they mos def get their Halloween on and I thought I would share some of the movie pix with you. Vanessa to me looks the same ( cute as always -- check out our interivew with her)  but MK --man I can't even tell its her in this get up. And can we say a big HELL-O to the new british guy on the block Alex Pettyfer (recently voted one of Britain's most eligible bachelors!) who has a cruel streak in the movie that takes a toll on his smashing good looks...ouch I mean look at the transformation. Hopefully the finished product is as good as the costume design! Looking forward to seeing what NPH can bring to this teen flick...as we all know what he brought to "Harold and Kumar". Now go get some trix and treats :-)

Take a peek at the first look of Beastly

Apps that make life easier

I am obssessed with my iphone as many of us are who own one are. This also means I am obsessed with the many Apps that you can download. I find I don't have enough time in my day to search through all of the 85,000 + faba pps out there so I recently posted onFacebookfor peeps to suggest some of the ones they can't live with out. My amazing intern Emily gave me the heads up on this awesome app that helps you shake up your app-etite! Its called Urban Spoon and is just plain fun for those of us who have a hard time figuring out what we want to eat but have no idea! This app just requires 3 fields and to select all of them is optional: Where(or current location), What and How much. You can either lock the categories or keep them open and hit shake and it is like a slot machines and part magic 8 ball and it picks a spot for you (while making a cool noise). It comes with reviews, map and a button to hit like or don't like. Big fan.

My old high school buddy Brendan told me about an iphone app that would have made my life so wonderful while trying to survive the frigid cold winters of Duluth, MN. Brendan still livesin MN so I am guessing this is why he adores the Viper SmartStart App. The way it works is through your wireless phone so you can basically start your car from anywhere!  WOW. The down side is this cool feature isn't free as there is a start up fee of $300 and you need it instaled but man what a kick ass concept.

If you have an app you can't live with out and want the world to get in on the joy it brings you -- send it my way! Tweet me: @michellehummel.Before I go back to work I want to give props to the ease of use of the Direct TV app. I can't tell you how many times I freak out that I forgot to record a show and thank god for my Direct TV iphone app cuz I can do it in about 2 minutes from the palm of my hand. Now only if they could get their act together with NFL Sunday ticket being worth the money... Til next time...Michelle

P.S. I almost failed to mention our own app here to watch all your fave YH videos! Download it now>>
