Zombies Movies Stay Alive in 2013!

As a zombie fanatic, I am always looking for some quality undead flicks, whether it be scary, gory, or hilarious. 2013 is already looking promising in the zombie movie department. Two upcoming zombie films that I know I will be seeing when they come out are slated for release.

First up, World War Z is about a man (Brad Pitt) who finds himself and his family in the middle of the early stages of zombie warfare. As a U.N. employee, he is recruited to find the origins of the pandemic in order to stop it. The twist to this is that the zombies aren’t the typical, slow-moving biters that we’re all used to. They take on a rage-full and athletic spin on the normal zombie. From watching the trailer, I got an I Am Legend-vibe, which could be good or bad.

It will be interesting to see how the director, Marc Forster, decides to tackle the story from Max Brooks. Brooks is also the writer of one of my favorite books, The Zombie Survival Guide. And how could I forget that a sexy, long-haired Brad Pitt is the star of this zombie flick? He, alone, will get me running to the box office.

Another zombie movie coming out in 2013 is Warm Bodies. Watch out, Twilight, you have more to worry about now then just werewolves! The zombie craze is an epidemic, figuratively and literally. Warm Bodies is a film about a zombie boy who falls in love with -- you guessed it! -- a normal, human girl. Set in a post-apocalyptic future, zombies are allowed to roam and, for some reason, our main character starts to have feelings. That's pretty intense for any guy, let alone a dead guy.

Nicholas Hoult, most known for his roles in About a Boy and X-Men: First Class, plays our love-struck, undead protagonist. Teresa Palmer (The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, I Am Number Four) plays our adorable female love interest. Jonathan Levine, the director, seems to have taken a comedic approach to the zombie flick. So, if you enjoyed movies like Shaun of the Dead or Zombieland, this may be up your alley.

There is so much to look forward to in 2013 in the zombie genre. Team Vampire or Team Zombie?

Team Zombie has high hopes for you 2013! Please don’t let us down!
