MADtv

If laughter is the best medicine to cure life's ills, then the doctor is in on Saturday nights at 11 PM, which is when MADtv airs on Fox. This Emmy award winning, successful sketch comedy series, based on the hugely popular magazine, Mad, just moved to the historic Henry Fonda Music Box Theatre in Hollywood, and is currently entering its 13th season and celebrating its 300th episode. MADtv was created by Fax Bahr and Adam Small, the people responsible for In Living Color and Blue Collar TV. The show is known for its edgy references to pop culture, its signature characters like Stuart the man-child, Blind Kung Fu Master and Coach Hines, and celebrity parodies of people like Ellen DeGeneres, Oprah Winfrey and Tara Reid. Given that the show is a sketch comedy series, it is inevitable that it will be compared to that other long running series on NBC, also airing on Saturday nights. MADtv has certainly given that other show a run for its money, as it is its longest running competitor to date!MADtv consists of returning cast members Michael McDonald, Bobby Lee, Nicole Parker, Keegan-Michael Key, Jordan Peele, Arden Myrin, Crista Flanagan, and has recently expanded to include new cast members Anjelah Johnson, Johnny Sanchez III and Dan Oster. This talented cast doesn't limit themselves to just sketch comedy, however. Many of them appear regularly at comedy clubs and practice their improvisational skills on audience members. Michael McDonald, the only cast member to be on the series for 10 seasons, has had recurring roles on long running television shows like Seventh Heaven and Scrubs. Bobby Lee, a fan favorite, appeared recently in the motion pictures, Kickin' It Old Skool and Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle. Keegan-Michael Key appeared in the motion picture, Mr. 3000 and is the host of Planet's Funniest Animals on the Animal Planet. Arden Myrin can be seen in the motion pictures, Evan Almighty, What Women Want, and the upcoming film, The Lucky Ones with Rachel McAdams and Tim Robbins. The show's successful run has attracted guest appearances by today's most popular personalities, including Queen Latifah, Nicole Richie, Mandy Moore, Jamie Kennedy, Howie Mandel, Susan Sarandon and Pamela Anderson. Upcoming guest appearances include Carlos Mencia, Joey Fatone, Kathy Griffin and Serena Williams. If you have missed any episodes of MADtv, have no fear!
