I hit up The Knux by celly and we Bang Bangù out an interview. The brothers have been out and about, playing probably 20 out of 30 nights a month. They call October (after already playing Jimmy Kimmel and several other joints) a slow monthù so far. They've got to keep it moving and build The Knux name. They're off to Canada and then overseas to promote their debut, Remind Me In Three Days. Growing up, their mother played all kinds of records and that got them into different types of music, not just things you listen to with your friends.ù Raised by their mother in New Orleans, both played marching band and bonded over afternoons listening to Nas. Al and Krispy Millio started writing rhymes and eventually began recording. I had to ask, why call themselves The Knux? They both laugh, Because people called us the knuckle heads.ù You can sense their obvious love for performing and making music. They produce their own songs and have a work ethic that takes them to all kinds of venues. Realizing that dream came at a time when they least expected. After Katrina, the family relocated to Houston. Man, we lost everything, our whole apartment building burned to the ground, says Krispy. So we were grateful that everyone was okay, but we weren't happy to be in Houston.ù Like Hollywood magic, around that time their demo hit the right ears and manager Paul Rosenberg signed on. Because of Katrina and how unhappy we were in that city we weren't inspired to make anything new.ù Krispy says. So the whole thing with Paul was blessing.ù Diverse and fresh on the scene - The Knux are What's Hot in music! Word.
