Along with the recent news of Woody Allen’s rare decision to act in John Turturro’s upcoming film Fading Gigolo and preparing for his Broadway production of Bullets Over Broadway for 2012, he has announced that he will also be directing a film this year per usual.
Although it has not been titled yet, he has already begun casting. Bradley Cooper and Cate Blanchett (who will play “a sophisticated woman who has her life together”), have signed on, and British Golden Globe-winner Sally Hawkins was most recently added to the crew as well.
Hawkins has signed to play “a neurotic who’s more fun and rough around the edges.” She has worked with Woody before, in his 2007 film Cassandra’s Dream.
Aside from these tiny character details, as Allen always has it, there is no word on the plot summary of this untitled “dramedy”, but we do know that it will be filming in San Francisco and New York City this summer.
To Rome With Love, starring Jesse Eisenberg, Ellen Page, and Alec Baldwin, releases this summer on June 22, and Allen will continue on with his busy schedule!
