The ink is not even dry yet on The Expendables 2 box office receipts, and already there is talk of not only a 3rd installment of the all-star action franchise but a complimentary all-female version!
Actually, if recent reports by Variety are to be believed (and why wouldn’t they?), the proposed film is actually past the talking stage and well into crewing up already! Writer Dutch Southern (don’t bother looking him up; he has no other credits at this point) has been hired to pen the script by 1984 Private Defense Contractors… which is actually the name of a production company and not a top-secret government operative.
As expected, this lady version of The Expendables will feature “several prominent actresses affiliated with the action genre.” That’s not exactly an overflowing list there, so we can assume appearances being made by several if not all of the following badass chicks:
Milla Jovovich, Michelle Rodriguez, Maggie Q, Angelina Jolie, Famke Janssen, Halle Berry, Zoe Saldana, Jennifer Garner, Ally Larter, Lucy Liu, Uma Thurman, and maybe even Sarah Michelle Gellar or Chloe Moretz. Going more old school, you might consider including Jamie Lee Curtis, Linda Hamilton, and Sigourney Weaver as well.
And here's hoping that they'll really make this a woman's job all-around and hire a female director proven in the action genre, like Betty Thomas or Kathryn Bigelow.
Who would YOU like to see in a female version of The Expendables?
