Director Stephen Gyllenhaal met the lovely Oscar nominated screenwriter, Naomi Foner, and they had two lovely children named Jake and Maggie.Jake has been acting his whole life, making his debut as Billy Crystal's kid in City Slickers. He then went on to more prominent roles in October Sky, The Day After Tomorrow, and the critically appraised Jarhead.When not hanging out with his pals, Natalie Portman and Bryce Howard, Jake Gyllenhall is slowly becoming the ultimate emo movie star. He has the same dazed and confused look as Tobey Maguire, which is probably why they both hang out with Kirsten Dunst. But Jake is less pleasant as Tobey, and a little more intellectual.Jake attended Columbia University and studied Eastern religions and philosophy before dropping out after two years to concentrate on his acting career.Maggie, his older sister, had occasional cameos in her father's movies, but didn't break out until she starred in the controversial movie, Secretary. She has since blown up as become an indie star and even hosted the Sundance Awards one year.
