We Are Ready To Get Obsessed With "You"!

Written by Diego Pineda. Published: April 12 2018

As a girl is texting while waiting for the subway, her phone slips out of her hand and she falls from the platform onto the tracks trying to get it. As the subway is approaching, a guy comes out of nowhere and saves her. Is this a coincidence, love at first sight, or a plan all along?

We’ll have to find out about this in Lifetime’s new psychological thriller “You”. In the show, a bookstore manager, Joe (Penn Badgley), meets aspiring writer Beck (Elizabeth Lail) and saves her life from the subway. But what the first official trailer of the show reveals is that Joe has been stalking Beck all along, both physically and online through social media.

“You” is based on the book of the same name by Caroline Kepnes. As Joe and Beck begin to get close and fall in love, Beck’s best friend Peach (Shay Mitchell) begins suspecting whether or not Joe is a stalker. But what the trailer also shows is that Peach herself is also obsessed with Beck! Prepare for an unsettling, creepy show that will leave you with more questions than answers. Will you be on Peach’s side or Joe’s? What will Beck do to deal with her love interests as well as her stalkers?

This is Penn’s first role since “Gossip Girl” and Shay’s first role since “Pretty Little Liars” and we are very excited to see how they do in these shows and how the story will unfold! How far will Peach and Joe go in their search for love? From the looks of the trailer, it seems that Joe will do anything to remove any and all obstacles to get to Beck… even murder!

Also starring in the show are John Stamos in a guest role, as well as Zach Cherry, Kathryn Gallagher, and Luca Padovan.

“You” will cover themes of love, obsession, seduction, deception, rejection, and revenge. Make sure to watch the show when it premieres on Lifetime on September 9 at 10pm!
