Trying new things is fun. Well, maybe not always fun, at the very least it makes life less boring. If things do go wrong, then there’s something to complain about on your Facebook. Or, in the case of a recent road test of the Vibram Five Fingers, generate a favorable review worth sharing too!
At this point, you may be scratching your heads, dear readers; you’re all like, “WTF are Vibram Five fingers,” so let’s break it down.
What is it? Vibram Five Fingers are the world’s first and only shoes with toes. Why they’re called “fingers” when in fact they cover your feet and toes, I technically don’t know. It’s one of life’s mysteries! How do they fit? Not entirely easy to slip into. The first couple times I tried them on it took a bit of effort to get everything in the right hole. If that sounded dirty, get your mind out of the gutter! The good news is that the fabric is very flexible, so they fit comfortably even if you have wonk toes (2 of mine are crooked from breaking them as a child and my parents wouldn’t let me get cosmetic foot surgery. Parents, right you guys? They just don’t understand!) How do they perform? Feels like walking barefoot Are they recommended? Absolutely! They were introduced to me by my friend Lalo Fuentes (get training tips from him here and here) and I’d definitely recommend them to friends for beach sport activities, gym workout or just strutting around -- but not for running or other sports.
