Every year, around this time, football lovers everywhere rejoice. Whether they like the teams or not, Super Bowl is THE event of the year for football fanatics. Many little boys who grow up playing football can only dream of making it to the pros and one day playing in the Super Bowl, one of the most watched events on television every year. Those that are lucky enough to play at the college level consider the brass ring to be two days in April, when the National Football League (NFL) has their draft. Each year, thousands of eligible college players wait with bated breath to see who will be the fortunate 255 players to go pro. Football fans are just as anxious as the players to find out who will get the opportunity of a lifetime, but many of them don't know what goes into the draft picks. Red Envelope Entertainment has produced the documentary, Two Days in April, which follows four young men on their journey to be drafted into the NFL. The film is co-produced by Jack Tiernan, a former IMG agent who currently works as a sports agent for the major agency, CAA.The four men go to the IMG academy, where they go through 16 weeks of a grueling mental and physical training schedule with some of the top professionals in the sports world. The goal is to get the men ready for their interview with the NFL. It is an interview so nerve wracking that the smallest error can result in not getting picked for a team. The documentary gives you exclusive access into the lives of these players during their preparation for the draft. It also introduces you to the family of these men, who want so desperately to see them realize their hopes and dreams through a professional football career. When it all comes down to it, the film is ultimately about pushing hard to make your dreams come true in the face of great odds. It is about faith and commitment and striving towards success. The four gentlemen that the film revolves around are Derek Hagan, DonTrell Moore, Clint Ingram and Travis Wilson. Derek, known as The All-Star, plays for Arizona State and is considered to be a great route runner and Pac-10's all-time leader in career receptions. However, his lack of concentration may cost him the chance to go pro. DonTrell, known as Hometown Hero, plays for New Mexico and is the sixth player ever to get four 1,000 yard seasons in a career. Will his lack of ideal size and slower speed cost him in the long run though? Clint, known as Country Boy, plays for Oklahoma University and is a great runner and strong attacker, but is he still considered too small and inconsistent to be a pro linebacker? Travis, otherwise known as The Underdog, also plays for Oklahoma University and is a strong physical receiver who has had an outstanding junior year. He does not give a good enough effort when it comes to blocking and his previous injuries could make him a risky draft pick. Will their intense training help them go pro or will they suffer the heartbreak of ending their football career in college? In order to find out, you will have to check out Two Days in April. The film is distributed by Red Envelope Entertainment as well, and it will be exhibited across the country through an exclusive partnership between the online rental giant, Netflix, and B-Side Entertainment, an independent distributor that helps filmmakers find an audience for their films.
