TV's Unsung Heroes

When watching television shows and divulging in the media coverage that surrounds them, it seems that there are a few characters who don’t get as many props as they should. So without further ado, let’s rectify those oversights and pay tribute to the characters who deserve a little more love!

Glenn from "The Walking Dead" (Steven Yeun)
The survivors of the brilliant zombie drama are not all going to be pushed to the forefront as much as Rick, Shane, and Darryl. But Glenn is a character who deserves some credit for at least attempting to bring some much needed comic relief to the show... not to mention he saved Rick’s life in Season 1. His storyline with Maggie was also a nice distraction from the undead antics. Let’s hope this carries on in Season 3.

Alex Dunphy from "Modern Family" (Ariel Winter)
The middle child of the Dunphy family also happens to be the smartest. Her witty quips thrown at her family are gold, but she’s also shown moments of typical pre-teen drama that many can relate to. With Hayley (possibly) leaving for college soon, I reckon Alex will get more time to shine, along with little brother Luke.

Ralph Wiggum from "The Simpsons" (voiced by Nancy Cartwright)
"The Simpsons" has a huge amount of characters that deserve just as much love as the titular family, but I think that the son of the bumbling police chief is my pick. His one-liners are appropriately bonkers, not to mention he is adorable. Remember when he gave Lisa the Valentine’s Day card? Exactly.

Sam Merlotte from "True Blood" (Sam Trammell)
The bar owner and shapeshifter has had a few storylines here and there, but it seems that he is still second fiddle to the likes of Sookie, Bill, and Eric. However, we’ve seen that Sam has more layers to him than we originally thought, and with Season 5 coming in June, it will be intriguing to see how his character progresses.

Rufus Humphrey from "Gossip Girl" (Matthew Settle)
When you think about it, Rufus is quite possibly the least scheming character in this show, which is actually a breath of fresh air. Whenever there is a jam that the people he loves get into, he is always there to provide some words of wisdom, which, let’s face it, they all need. And, unlike other "GG" fathers, he always supports his kids AND hasn’t been in jail!
